Glad u asked this question; For you can see by at least one of ur answers (TR) who says that "all philosopht is abstract".
At least this can be criticised. The same person states that
"i have never seen a physical philosophy"; Really?
The physical philosophy that has made thousands of troops
fly to Iraq or that (rather instant )physical philosophy which
enabled lotteries to be set-up.
We all have (physical) philosophies;some mistaken,some
far reaching,most consistant and law-abiding.
As far as i know,"abstract philosophy" does exist but anyone
should be cautioned about this "puzzle-solving"; As the name
implies its a rather fanciful and aimless persuit; its not
that it is knowledge for its own sake but trivial knowledge for
its own sake.If you dont believe me try the work and "thought" of that so-called great sage called Wittgenstein. The "blue" (or just black and white!)book and
Tractatus contain sayings and thoughts which just tend to
mesmorise;although they are useless to the vast majority of
students,some vunerable and some not-so-vunerable are
caught in its web.
There are reasons why these philosophies "bloom" and
come-to-the-fore,but i wont go into that here.
Suffice it to say that they are "untouched"by a typical,darwinian education; so they are unlikely to "go away" soon(and so will need to be "countered" by less abstract and helpful,useful ideas)!

Let's define:
Abstract = pure thought
Concrete = objective physical reality
While philosophy attempts to explain reality (more or less depending on philosopher), it exists only in the realm of pure thought. I never saw a physical philosophy.
Therefore all philosophy is abstract.
What a silly question--is this from an examination? Perhaps the prof wants you to speculate on whether philosophy can exist that's entirely ungrounded in objective reality--in which case you get to say yes, perhaps, but it would be inexplicable since no one else could find a referent from which to decode it.

Of course. Anything can have an abstract version or be abstracted.

Philosophy IS abstract. If it was concrete, it would be factual.
