..."Has enourmous potential, but doesn't use it..."

Could it be that I'm lazy? (or maybe the fact that I used the word "gotten" in my questions?)

Sounds like they didn't like your attitude, punk.

My report cards actually *did* have straight A's, but the teachers used to always write "negative attitude". My parents couldn't figure it out.

Gosh, you make one or twelve *slightly* sarcastic comments, and people start saying they don't like your attitude.

Well, you know what? Maybe my attitude didn't like *them*, either. ;-)

There is no doubt you could have gotten straight A's especially if you were in the USA where the standards are so low. There are plenty of reasons why you did not (if you really did not) and all of them were addictions. If you can't figure that out, then you probably aren't as smart as you think. Worse of all you likely still have the same addictions now as then and that is why you still don't get the straight A's. I suppose I could edit this answer to make it sound less confrontative, but I doubt you would benefit from it as much. For those who think this does not apply to us, you also are wrong. It does.

What is the top obstacle? Vanity. Finding a way to free oneself from vanity, from the rush that it provides, is the best substitute. Come fly on the greatest airline in the Universe. Book your ticket now! I am sorry I didn't give you this info sooner, I was afraid.

Lol, time to take the conflicting view! :)

Ha. Potential is kind of an illusion. Potential means it isn't (or hasn't) happened. Which means it doesn't exist :P. You see they say if you take away part of you (what u think to be laziness) there would be an improvement in grades. But that means they have to CHANGE you. So if they have to change you to do it, than it's not really YOU that can get those grades, but an altered version of you.

It may not be laziness. A lot of what school teaches you is "fluff," or stuff you don't really need :P. I've actualy read several philosophies that tell you to LOSE samantic knowledge rather than to gain (like you do in school). You probably just don't put value in it, so you don't try much to achieve it.

Besides who honestly cares about grades? PFFT! Far too many. Grades are ment to be the goal, rather it is to be a measuring system. Your purpose shouldn't be to get good grades, it should be to gain wisdom/knowledge. Even if you got an F, but learned all the material covered, it is FAR FAR better than the guy who got an A but forgot 9/10 of what he learned at school.

Yes you are lazy. I had the same problem. Why try if you don't have to and can still be ahead of everyone else. Its a great way of thinking, until you get to a place you need to try and you have no study skills. Or maybe you decide to take a break from school after you graduate high school, and then wake up 7 years later living in your parents basement. You should try to live up to your potential, otherwise this could happen to you. Then again its easy saying I could have done better if you never really tried. I could have done something with my life if i wanted to. "You need to wake up, get out and get something" outkast

Lazy would be a good term. Waste of potential is another. Or maybe your destiny awaits as a 7-11 night store manager??

We often assume that others want what we want. You had no interest in achieving "A's". That was a choice you made. The author of the comment simply assumed that you would want what they wanted.

Lazy is a judgment about one's actions and choices. I imagine that while you weren't getting A's you were using your time and mental faculties for something else.

The question is was it worth it? If you can answer yes, it was worth it, then I wouldn't worry about it at all.

What good is it.. Why pursue it? What does it matter?
These are the hidden questions of the person accused of not living up to their potential.
People do not just move randomly. Inspiration always precedes the motivation.
Lazy and unmotivated are not the same thing.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well....But..It must first be worth doing.

well if you have potential its time to step it up and not get lazy. straight A's are good for college so try your best instead of slacking off. in the long run you'll be happy.

You were lacking motivation.

Were you asking yourself "Why do I need straight A's?" and "Would my life turn out to be much better if I had straight A's in school?" If you were, you probably could not answer those questions.

Maybe had they written "has enormous love muscle" you would have GOTTEN straight As. Also, maybe you should have transferred schools since the teachers couldn't spell enormous correctly.....hindsight my dear fellow.
