NO not really. Even the old CRT tubes have no difference in power usage with colour changes. The main "loss" of power is all the transforming circuits to provide the 17,000V to drive a 17" CRT.

With LCD, it makes even less difference.

No,absolutely not....comps monitors use up to 60-70% of your total energy use to run computers.........so, it's best if you switch it off, if not in use, say u wanna go to the toilet,watch Jay Leno Shows,etc......I do that all the time if im not using it just for a while,hope it helps!


The below are the period of time, the best to switch it off all together in the long run.,....


Component Time period
Monitor 20 minutes
Hard disks 30 minutes
System standby or hibernation 90 minutes

The color of your wallpaper has no effect
but when i go out i shut off monitor and leave puter running

why dose it matter? and no, its not like when a monitor shows black it shuts down those pixels.
