ok here is the situation. i have 29 day cycles...i got my period on July 7.. i started to chart my cervical mucus the day my period ended *july 13th. on july 18 and 19 i notice *what i thought to be Egg white mucus, but it was a little cloudy, so i thought these were the days that i ovulated. I was dry after that untill July 24th, where i had a large amount of egg white mucus...(it formed a peaks at my finger tips, and when i pulled it apart, it stretched 3 iinches and snapped apart)srry TMI. this was a lot more than what i had on the 18th and 19th. now i am confused.. which days do you think i ovulate? (18th or 19th....24 or 25)... I have been using mymonthly cycle and it said i should of ovulated on 22nd.. I am so confused... is it possible that i ovulated 11 days before my period is due?...

As far as my reasearch has told me in the past, women with a normal 4wk (or so) cycle ovulate 10-14 days after their LMP. In your case this would have been the 17-21st of july so 22nd is pretty accurate considering you have 29day cycles.

If I were you I would use an ovulation test kit everyday from day 10 after your LMP and the day it shows positive then start having sex once a day for the next 3-4days (and after of course don't just limit yourself to ovulation days!) This way you should cover all your basis and hopefully get a positive result approx 2 weeks later.
Try to refrain from sex for the 2 days prior to ovulation to give your man's little swimmers extra potency!

Overall, don't stress too much, enjoy the sex and play the waiting game like everyone else! Good luck, and invest in an ovulation test kit multi pack.

Health books actually chart the "beginning" of the cycle, from when the Menses starts. Then count off, say it takes four or five days for the blood to do it's thing, then, for a regular 28 day cycle, pretty safe up to about day nine, but NOT really safe between days 9- 16, and especially not between 10 and 16 but you ovulate sometime between 10-15 and it only lasts about 24 to 48 hours, then soon safe again.
Actually, when you know the cycle really well, it is only 3 days you need to worry about if you don't want to be pregnant. Easier said than done, though.

Usually you would ovulate 14 before your period was due, so 11 days would be more likely, your luteal phase might just be a bit shorter this cycle, so you may not get pregnant this time unless your period is a bit late. Short luteal phases mean that there might not be enough lining in your womb for egg to implant, but you never know. Days 18 - 19 would be too soon for you to have ovulated.

If you have 29 days cycle, and you want to be sure about your counting, the exact date of your ovulation is from july 20 which is your 14th day since you have your menstruation last july 7. So,from july 20,21 is best. But,if you want to be sure, then make it until 23.
