Princess:

Most convertibles tend to be heavier than their hardtop counterparts. This is due to reinforcements in the body and windshield frame that are required to make up for the structural strength that a hardtop roof has.

I have never heard of any convertible that flips easier than the hardtop version. Maybe your parents just don't want you to have a soft-top?

Any vehicle is only as safe as the driver. You can flip anything over if you r driving recklessly. As far as I know there is nothing saying that convertibles are any safer or more dangerous then any other vehicle on the road, however, convertibles are more likely to get you tickets for how you are driving. Sometimes when just starting out it's better to go with something less obvious on the road. It may seem like a waste, however I can tell you from expierance, the more noticible the vehicle the closer law enforcement watches you, and the faster the write out the fines, lol.

Little Princess Just be thank full your parents are forking over 30,000 so you can be driving around and your probably are using there gasoline credit card and insurance too. My first car was $25 and the motor was taken apart in the trunk.
Note to parents Bmw retractable hard top cars are just as safe, driven properly as any car. I reccomend you enroll Little Princess in a "Drivers Edge" car control school before you let her out and It is a Good chance for dad or mom to learn Skid control too.

The only problem with convertibles, is when they do flip, there's nothing between your head, and the pavement.
