maybe. i think that we love to also find security. security to be with someone for the rest of our lives, not being alone. well, when i love someone i want the security of trust and confidence, and that no matter what happens i can count on him. but since love does not give us any guarantee that it will last for a lifetime, i guess the link is just a small piece of hope that when love comes, security follows. =)

Well, I think that there is a close relationship between the two. When you love you risk everything--including security, social or otherwise--for a new kind of security. That is, security that the one you love will be with you. It's a kind of gamble where you risk something in the hope that you may acquire something much bigger.
Beware though lest you get caught in a gambler's fallacy. In love, the stakes are high. But if you win... :)

Good question. The short answer is: Absolutely.
Love is the act of considering the self interest of another as if it were your own.
It is what allows us to form couples, groups and nations.
Love exists to serve the biological imperative, which is resources collection, reproduction, and security.
Our security is profoundly enhanced when we act as a group.
So Darwinistically speaking, Security is one of the primary driving forces in the evolution of Love.

Genuine love is always a risk and an assent to the unknown. The need for security is related to the ego's desire for control.
