I am american, but I am obsessed with everthing from the UK.
I adore the culture, the history everything!
My grandad was born and raised in the uk, and even after he passed, I still love it and it still reminds me of him.
I am trying to get a job transfer to the Uk but untill then, what can I do to .. get more into the culture?

you have to have a dry sense of humour. Try watching monty python-The Holy Grail, or Life of Brian. The flying circus is also good. Try not to show any emotions unless you know the person -stiff upper lip, and all that. You must constantly moan about the weather too-this is not applicable to Americans as if its summer, it will be sunny, with some rain. Here, it can be raining hailing, bitter storms etc. That's why we all talk about it so much. Get intouch if you want to know more.
Oh and 'moonpig' Most of those things happen in loads of countries in many different severities.Hmm,what a bleak outlook on British life you have. Tut.

rephrase. I think you man everything English because the truth be thats what you mean. First lets get the basic information right. British is sometimes what confusing in the uk and a lot of people don't like to be British because they find them self more welsh or Scottish or English. The British is always consired to be a bunch of people drinking tea with qerky accents and bad teeth(stereotype of an English person) but that is as further from the truth as they come. My suggestion is start to go to bubs on Saturday nights and have one night stands.Get blasted out on the street and fight. Watch shows like the catherine tate show,Dead ringers,Still game(scottish but you said british culture and scotland is in the uk)little britian. Plenty more shows. OH and make sure that once you came out of a night club you get a kebab. thats the classic thing to do after a night of clubing in the uk

Tea drinking is great for everything, you're ill? Drink tea. You're depressed? Drink Tea.
Complain about public transport
Learn sayings lilke 'pull the door to'
Do not visit the Queen (All Americans i've met seem to fell that the Queen just pops out the palace and goes into Lidls by herself. You will never meet her nor should you want too!)
Speak in a bad manner about people up north, down south etc etc
Have a local (Pub)

I think the most important UK culture is their speaking culture. When I watch the film Harry Potter, I often find their accent to be funny. I also had a teacher who is from Britain before. He is like an American too. The only thing that I can tell he is different is his accent. This is what I think you should learn if you really like the UK culture.

Blame the race family members bill it is so one sided as to be laughable,. I think of that throughout the time of advance of seven/7 if any non muslim had delicate information on a muslim neighbour(born here or out of the country) they could have theory two times approximately forwarding it to the government for concern of being labelled a racist and/or believing that they may be the only investigated such is the capability of this previous it quite is shelf existence bill. This very bill facilitates or maybe encourages ethnic enclaves to exist and proceed to be as insular as they desire to be and on the comparable time this bill protects any interference from any quarter - what a luxurious - what a liberty, it quite is multicultural for us yet no longer all around what's sauce for the goose and so on. So if any uk government is requesting our help in removing ability terrorists interior the making please amend this bill so as that the 'community inhabitants' of this u . s . has a point taking part in field wherein to manoeuvre. And definite the BBC with all it quite is johnny foreigners is bl00dy tragic..

A brief, cautionary tale. A friend of mine married a lady from the USAsome years ago and she came to live over here. She was *very* friendly, in fact over friendly and this put a lot of people off her. I think she's sweet but she lost quite a few potential friends as a result.
British people can be welcoming but are also wary of over familiar strangers. When making friends here, just "play it cool" (as I believe they say it 1950's teen movies :).

Everyone should be proud of who they are, but if you want to learn more about the British culture and way of life, you should:
Visit London and totally immerse yourself in the culture.
Talk to British people
Watch British shows. You'll need to learn about great British humour! :D
If you're truly interested in something, you can find ways to learn what you want to know.
Good luck!

I've myself thought over it several times. From what I understand, Britons are very sensitive about their regional identity; English, Scottish, Irish or Welsh. You need to respect the differences and find one that suits you best. E.g. I have English ancestry and would feel more comfortable in as place like Sussex or Kent.
Read more about English history and culture; philosophers, scientists, artistes - learn about English cuisine such as bacon and eggs, yorkshire pudding etc. Listen more often to English country music.
I envy you - wish I had all that time
