good question, i don't have a solid answer. I could only find this on *cringe* wikipedia....

"The Broncos have a tradition where the offensive linemen do not talk with the media. This is evident during the player introductions for the starting lineup on nationally-televised prime time games as the linemen do not introduce themselves. How they are introduced has varied over the years as sometimes, another offensive player introduces them and during other times, the announcers introduce the offensive linemen. Because of a rule change within the NFL this tradition may have come to an end. For the 2007 season each player will be required to make themselves available for media interviews. It is yet to be seen how this will affect the tight lipped tradition."

I think it is a tradition based on superstition. I recall it happening after the broncos OL was interviewed before the AFC Champ Game in 1997 when Terrell Davis was a rookie. They lost to Jacksonville and the lineman decided in the offseason to not do any more interviews. They didn't talk to the media since then except on media day in the week leading up to the two superbowls they have won. Apparently, they have been getting fined since for not making themselves available for the NFL media but i think they may be going to increase the fines.Anyway,i like this tradition. Offensive Linemen are a rare breed, blue collar workers who work together like 5 fingers on a hand. They must operate as one unit for the team to be successful.Did you know the divorce rate for NFL O-Linemen is nearly zero?

People like this character above me are so dumb. Chop blocks are LEGAL in the NFL. Most clubs just don't use them. The Broncos would've been forced to stop them A LONG time ago if this was illegal.

In fact, many teams are going to start copying Denver's run block system starting this season.

GO BRONCOS!!

They have a rule between themselves that says that they do not talk to the media. It is not a team rule just between the linemen.

Well if you are watching the Bronx is Burning.
No sports guy would talk to the meida as they butcher it all and make great tensions in the club house.
Denver players were probably burned this way in recent years.

i think it stems from years back when players on other teams accused the broncos o-line of being dirty by using illegal chop blocks and even wearing tight jerseys slick with cooking spray so the defense cant grab on to their jerseys. as a show team solidarity they chose not to speak to the media and let their play on the field speak for them. with 11 straight 1,000 yard rushing seasons is easy to see why their play speaks volumes.

It is a symbol of unity and cohesion. It is a statement to themselves and others that they are one entity, and no individual is above the others. They have a strong comraderie, and it's become tradition that they cease to exist as individuals, but become all for one, one for all... thus they don't give interviews.

Because they will inevitably be asked about chop blocking, a Denver staple and illegal tactic that ends the careers of defensive lineman.
