....Of the charge that over there 1% of the population (ie the rich ruling class own about 90% of the wealth and humdrum others work in mcjobs for long hours at low rates. And the average wages are $25,000. Which is rubbish.

Know ye not that if there are three million of you there will be a bigger anything than Jordan?

Yea - its always illegals. Americans are all illegals except for the native ones. and they are more related to Mexicans than you lot anyway. But there is someone worst off as we all know. A guy with $2 is richer than one with nothing but that does not mean he is actually RICH does it. he is RICHER by comparison only but is POOR! Get me?

I do know what you mean mate. The real problem is the definition of middle class. The definition has changed as we can see from the above answer. It is the new poor that call themselves middle class and the ruling elite encourage this so the dissatisfaction is minimal. The point is if everyone had to live within their means there will be much borrowing of cups of sugar. This has been glaringly exposed by the Sub Prime mortgage market collapse. You see the real reason that the US mortgage lending market collapsed is not because there has been an error in lending, but there has been a error in perception - that is to say that the poor wanted a slice of the American dream but did not see themselves as actual poor but as "middle class".

As a guide to being middle class, without considering education for this assessment, one has to own their own property (no outstanding mortgage, that is. Have about £100,000 in the bank in liquid assets and have stocks and shares to the same or similar value. And have annual earnings after tax of similar value.

It is true in every country that the top 1% of the population have a huge fraction of the accumulated wealth. It is a bit more extreme in the United States than in other industrialized countries. However, your argument that this means that there is no middle class in America is specious. Roughly 69% of Americans own their own homes. This is a considerably higher rate than in the France, Germany or Denmark, for some examples among supposedly more egalitarian societies.

Well, I am happy. Anyone can become a rich ruling class as you call it. As I grow older, I don't want to be one of the so called 90% I am middle class and darn proud. Two sons have graduated from UTA and that makes me happier than anything. My husband and I are respected in our jobs.
Money?

Not only does the US have a large middle class, we have mobility from one class to another. Oh, and that 1% pays most of this country's taxes too.

Average figures are just that, "averages" including the two extremes. The median amount people make is higher. You just use that average number because it looks worse for your propaganda.

Because we love America and think that every time someone tries to fix it, they bring us closer to breaking it. Some of us think that the power in the US Constitution belongs to the PEOPLE. And we like it done that way.

If I said we are all poor and miserable would that keep all the illegals from pouring over to our country just to get a piece of that richness you claim doesnt exist?

You sound like you really dont have a clue what its like living in the US. Please dont dictate to us americans what it is like to live in the US. I think we know what it is like a little bit better then you do.
