I used to have a kookaburra bubble, but now I have a Woodworm Globe. Both Brands are very good, but I would say if you wanted a lighter bat, then go for the woodworm!! Gray Nicolls aren't bad though!!

Years ago, like in the 70's , Gray Nicolls took out long term leases to the best english willow sites in the u.k and therefore have access to the best raw material. Other brands source from asia and warmer climates where the wood grows faster and is not mature(in the traditional sense) and therefore splits easier.A lot of contracted players get their manufacturers to buy wood from gray nicolls to make their bats for their own use. Don't buy bats with coverings on them- get raw that needs to be oiled. A good bat has a deep grain colour with 5 to 7 grains on a bat being the best wood. Just as important is the "weight" of the bat- it should feel neutral in your hands, not top or bottom heavy. I used to look at 100's of bats before i would find the right one and i would reject 90% on basis of grain alone. I used to open the batting and got 8 years out of my bats before i changed, not because the gray-nic was worn out(the faces are still perfect) but because the human body evolves over time. My father still has his old sloped shoulder Gray-nic he used in the early 60's. It's 5 grains wide and still in great shape with only a little splitting on the grain even though it hasn't been oiled in 20-odd years!I'm sure if you go to the Gray-Nicolls site it will give you instructions on how to "break-in" and maintain clean skin bats. Good luck with your selection-don't rush in!

It's all a matter of opinion and personal taste. Go to your local sports shop, try different makes and different weights to see what you feel comfortable with. Don't jus pick up the bat, but play a few shots as well. It's a fair bit of money so make sure you are happy with it. In fairness, if any of the bats were vastly superior, every batsman would use that bat. The fact that there are so many is a good indication that theye are much of a muchness.

All of them are good makes and the manufacturers have a good reputation.
A lot of the decision is personal choice when you pick the bat up and feel for weight , balance etc .
I suggest you go int a good sports shop and ask to see a selection .
Once you have had a chance to pick a few up I am sure it will at least narrow down your choice.
I hope you score lots of runs when you get that new bat
Good Luck

In my opinion, kookaburra seems to be the most stable, although slazenger's are pretty good as well

If u r looking to whack it, get puma or woodworm. if you r looking to bat sensibly, probably slazenger or newberry.

I prefer kookaburra, but what you have to realise is that they are all the same. Pick the one you feel most comfortable with if you get to try them out.

actually all these companies make really good bats....but everyone has different opinions.....for example: some ppl like heavy bats while some ppl like light bats....but w/e bat u buy b sure to knock it good with a BAT MALLET before playin a game wid it.....doin that will make the wood stronger and youll be able to hit nicer with it...
