to cpinatsi:
In case of a state of war or mobilization due to external dangers or of manifest threat to the national security, or in case of armed revolt against the Democratic regime, the Parliament may, after proposition of the Cabinet........etc
the law is clear:
"threat to the national security" - this is exactly the situation
so the date can be postponed

According to teh constitution, once the elections have been declared they cannot change, unless there is war. Although it is correct that the situation is not very practical for elections right now, the constitution must be respected, and it is also correct, because think about it: if we changed teh day of the elections for this, the next time someone wants to postpone the elections for a reason will only need to organise a group of arsonists. The country cannot give in to arsonists, this would be a terrorist blow to democracy.

the elections must be postponed until this terrible situation ends.i don't believe that the government and the other political parties will go on elections and spend so much money, when at the same time, whole villages are burning, more than 50human were burnt alive and everyday new fires start.i don't believe that they're thinking about elections at this time,'cause if they do,they must be fools and without feelings.Greece is on fire.
the previous day I've heard someone saying that people of nea dimokratia started the fires in order to gain time for the elections.
what's going on?Greece is burning and there are still people who talk about elections?how can they believe that someone would burn so many people in order to postpone the elections?
i think that still, some Greeks live in their own world-in the world of the elections-as long as their houses are safe...

YES, my friend, the elections should be postponed!!!!! Greece is in a state of emergency, people are dying, lives have been ruined. The catastrophic proportions of this situation should be on the minds of those in power..... not how will they live off the people for the next four years!!! (Greece, my love, I cry for you... )

Do I understand that the elections in Greece are soon? Are they to be held in September? October? From what I saw on Turkish TV last night, the situation is horrible. Definitely elections should be posponed.
Can't the politicians think of anything but their seats?

In my opinion the elections should not be declared.
But now, according to our constitution the elections could be postponed only in case of war. We are on war! PM Karamanlis called all the country on general alert!

No. there is truthfully no way he can. no longer least confusing is it unconstitutional, unlawful, and ridiculously inflammatory. it is totally no longer attainable. Even under a state of finished national catastrophe/emergency there may be nonetheless nor president of criminal risk for him to try this.

Savva...This is from the ancient times...They were caring just for glory, and fighting between each other...Who cares about the disaster? The opposite..It is a way to reach the lovely chair one hour earlier...
And you have seen, that instead of coordinating...they were fighting on the dead souls...SHAME ON THEM...

Wait till they start fighting who is to be blamed for the disaster.
This is a "good opportunity" for them to gain some votes.
I am afraid this is their only target.
I am very afraid.....
And I am almost sure...
