I drive a 1990 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L. It pretty good for off roading, but I get about 65 mph tops. I need more power!!! But I also drive a lot, and gas is expensive nowadays.

I heard stuff about Bio-diesel. That you get 30+ mpg and get awsome Horsepower and Torque.

What is an affordable replacement diesel engine? Do I have to change my transmission? I have 4.10 gear ratio so I dont think I need to change that, do I?

Whats the most affordable way to do this change. And how (what else do I need). PLEASE HELP! I have a lot of hood space so even a pretty good sized engine would fit. The more power the better!

1. It would cost more than your Jeep is worth to convert it to a diesel engine.

2. Bio-diesel actually has less energy per gallon than straight petro-diesel.

3. Gasoline is cheaper per gallon right now than any kind of diesel, and diesel prices will go even higher during the winter months.

4. Your Jeep Wrangler was not designed for fuel efficiency. It will not get really good fuel mileage no matter what you do to it. If you want something that is cheap to operate, get a compact 2-wheel drive like a Chevy Aveo or a VW Rabit

When you get around to buying a new vehicle you can buy something with a Diesel engine.

You won't save money buying a new car (or truck).
