Do you mean like sitting with your family all together in the chapel, rather than everyone in your family going off and sitting with friends?
I think that it's significant that you spend some time together as a family each day in prayer, and I guess it doesn't really matter where you sit while you are in church, as long as you are paying attention and really trying to gain something from being there, and not just socialize with your friends.

Because your family will tend to kind that being in church together binds your spirits together, something that can't be done at any other time of the week. Think about that; even if you think that's not true, that's probably how they feel.

It isn't. Your primary reason for going to church has nothing to do with either family or friends.

Both are not mutually exclusive but have their own relevance and significance.what is required is a judicious balance between the two.

with friends you can't pay full attention to the lectures etc. but when you're with family you're in serious mode and you can pay full attention and there is no disturbance because parents are not gonna disturb like friends and there is no useless conversation...
