Søren Kierkegaard. His writing isn't always what I consider 'up to date' but his style is so clear it is almost as if he is talking to you. I actually started reading some out loud.
Great read indeed.
My al time favorite is "Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid." by Douglas R. Hofstadter. Great read and got me into this world of the mind.

My in demand part of historic past is any term beforehand of the discovery of gunpowder. i think as though human beings had to regulate themselves lots greater in those sessions, because of the reality that they could no longer get some hundred men and take a city, or salary warfare with some cannons. It took years of making plans, travelling, and near to even come on the brink of doing something significant, which includes taking a city, or migrating human beings to a clean area. in case you may desire to benefit greater approximately those time sessions, then I advise examining slightly on Genghis Khan and the Mongols, the great Wall of China, the Huns, all of the dynasties in touch in China and Japan, Shoguns and Emperors, the discovery of gunpowder, Qin Shi Huang and his terracotta military, Marco Polo, and a good variety of different subjects regarding China and Japan.

Since the one I return to again and again is the Book of Wisdom or Ecclesiastes, I would have to say that one.
The one I most want to read these days is the Tractatus by Wittgenstein. Then I suppose something from Kierkegaard, then Jorge Santayana.
What's yours?
