The previous answers are very good. However, have they ever actually been persecuted and ostracized by a group of society, friends or family? It is difficult to answer unless it has happened to a person. I had a very dear person experience this. He was accused of something that appeared valid and when his co-workers, family and friends found out, he was immediately ostracized. Lost his job and all. I was curious as to why he continued to deny the accusation if it were true. Was he truly at fault to lose his job and trustworthiness or just trying to save face?
So I listened carefully to his side. Then I gathered up the evidence against him to examine. It took me a long time to figure out but I figured if I were in that position, I would like someone to be fair, so I was. To my real surprise, he was innocent and had been wronged. He was already in the process of defending himself but I discovered certain inconsistent facts in the matter and told him and his attorney. His attorney then investigated and found out that he did have evidence to contradict the matter and my friend was able to have his name cleared, his job restored and won back respect and praise for not simply giving up. I was not the only person who stood by him, however. He did have quite a few people who did not abandon him and supported him throughout the ordeal.
Even if a person has a dubious background already, I learned that it doesn't automatically make them guilty.

Many people and groups of people have found themselves persecuted and ostracized by some others. I guess it would have to depend on why they chose this course of action. If you are not a World leader and not guilty of some heinous and immoral conduct, it is really doubtful "everybody else" would turn against you. Most individuals are not the center of the universe.
In a small community, being ostracized can have one of three outcomes: the community goes along like sheep and ignores you; some people see what is happening to you and don't like it so they come to your aid and support you; or nothing happens except some people are persecuting you.
Some religious communities ostracize those they cast out of their church, but that act only relates to those in that religious group.
This question is vague or I could give more substantive examples of outcomes for a situation like this. Can you expand on why you are persecuted and ostracized?

It all depends. If you are a natural dropkick & that's why these certain people are persecuting & ostracizing you - then it will only be natural that others will do the same.

You'll find the only ones likely to stand by you are people in the same boat!

no it would not make others turn against you..unless you had been lied on by a group of people hell bent to make you leave for whatever personal gain they have intended at your expense..ask yourself,..if a group of people bothered you fifteen years ago, say..for instance...what is it that they are really doing to you that you can't go to the police?..Why is it that you feel this way? Unless you can prove this, I think you are just being paranoid..now if you have photos of all of these people, doing this, and have documented all of this activity to build a case, then I would say your imagination is running wild with you and you need something else to fill the void.
