My girlfriend is starting to go barefoot more often but likes wearing skirts and isn't sure that this suits bare feet. What type of clothes for a woman works best with no shoes?

I like to wear long gothic skirts, or flowery hippie ones, but jeans work too... try bell-bottoms or ones that are just slightly frayed at the bottom for the hippie look. Generally I think skirts go very well with bare feet!

I am always either in flip flops or bare feet and I think three quarter lengths or jeans are best when not wanting a dress or skirt. The look of jeans with the bottoms rolled up a bit with bare feet is sexy and works well together.

White lacey skirts, floral dresses, light blue, light green and pink skirts go well with bare feet as well, especially in spring and summer.

For fashion I would tend to go for the skirts though, a light blue skirt with a white short sleeve top is my favorite combination for bare feet.

Skirts and bare feet are fine, but if she wants to vary her look, she can basically wear anything and look acheive that successfully summery look sans the shoes. Shorts are the obvious choice if she really wants to bare it all and is confident with the way her legs look. Or, how about a sun dress. Capri pants would be a nice option, too. Long pants and bare feet would look awkward, though, in my opinion.

If she's going to doff the shoes, she should be up on her tetnus boosters (in case she steps on a rusty nail...ouch ouch ouch), get regular pedicures to keep her feet looking and feeling nice..(This is something she could even learn to do at home), and of course, wear shoes in public places where shoes are required. But otherwise, the barefoot look can be quite sexy and carefree...and there's really no particular dress code requirement. It's more an attitude.

“Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolize a way of living-being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath out toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature.”
From the book “Barefoot Dreaming” by Adele Coombs

Since being barefoot is a natural and authentic look, anything she chooses to accomany her bare feet is totally appropriate. I say that she should dress in any fashion that pleases her and enjoy herself.

“And forget not that the Earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” Kahlil Gibran

I think styles from India would look good like that. Like the long flowing things with beads or mirror-work on them.

Also, as others have said, the beachy look. Also, I'm thinking that if she's skinny, 3-quarter length jeans might look cute that way too.
