This is in deference to Goldwing, who wore an orthopedic girdle that happened to have lace inserts. He said they were miserable.

I bought a nightgown with lace straps, and I wore it once, washed it, put it on and took it right back off. I wound up giving it to my granddaughter. That scratchy lace might just as well have been wool.

I love lace. It is elegant and feminine. My wedding gown
had a lace skirt and lace on the sleeves, and I wore a lace
veil. It depends on where you wear the lace. It doesn't have to be scratchy. I have an all lace dress, I wore for my
daughter's wedding. You can soften it up by washing it.

Not all lace is the same. It depends on what kind of material is used in the lace. I agree some of it is very stiff and scratchy. Other lace is soft and flexible. Don't give up on lace. Just feel it -- buy it if it seems soft enough. Wear it a bit, leaving the tags on, so if you don't like it, you can return it to store. HSN and QVC both have 30-day return policy if you want to try ordering something with lace on-line.

I think lacy stuff is feminine and if I wear it, it's for me and no one else. I agree that you have to make sure the lace isn't stiff because it can be an irritant. It's not something I wear all the time, but when I do, it's because I like how it makes me feel.

Hee hee hee - I'm picturing Goldwing in a lacy girdle. There's a visual....

Chantilly Lace and a Smilin Face. Lace is lovely. But we don't wear those old fashioned pantaloons down to our knees anymore you know. Lace underwear, the newest styles, is a must. I'm serious. Satin pyjamas, and nighties. Would not be without them.

I'm just waiting for the day when I can afford satin sheets. Really, we do wear lovely underwear, and I'm not mocking you. That is a cute question.

I gave my neighbor a drawer full of bras not long ago. I am now into cotton with no elastic in the legs and seldom a bra, only on very special occasions. Oh I used to lace up when I was in my 20's but then I had the body for it too. One of my favorite old sayings is ummm sorta like puttin' perfume on a pig, still a pig. I have several friends that have spent thousands on face lifts, good on 'em, but they still have the same ol bod to back up the face. I don't mean to sound bitter I am happy with what went away with time.

Oh, Goldwing is going to be rolling his eyes on this one...won't be for awhile I expect because it's only 6 a.m. in California just now.

I agree with the person who said that all you have to do is use fabric softener on garments with lace...I went through a lacy, sexy phase myself in my late thirties, and I can tell you absolutely that most of even the scratchiest lace can be softened that way.

And to Conrey...you could ACTUALLY AFFORD a tummy tuck? You DOG! I betcha there are a whole lot of women on here who are moaning with envy (including me)?!

Poor Goldwing...our pet bodybuilder/compassionate male being laughed at for his method of handling a back injury. He is going to be blushing big time over the continuing to-do!

I love girly fancy underwear and nightgowns. Satin and soft lace are a must. I like to make a pretty bed with beautiful sheets that smell good.
I do it for myself because I like to. But you will not catch me in a thong I've spent half my life pulling underwear out of my bottom to buy some that actually goes there.

I'm not a lace person, I would look like an aging hooker. With me less is more, not meaning less clothing :-) but clothes without frou frou's like lace, embrodery, puffs and poofs and tucks and what have you. I'm a tailored type person, can you imagine Lauren Hutton in frou frou's? It would be ridiculous, same with me.

There are softer laces available. The stiff kind I remember from being a kid, is torture, as I posted here before especially on sun burned shoulders - I think my mother was a sadist ?

I am highly flattered that anyone knows who in the hell I am, let alone take offense. If you think the thought of my wearing a corset for my back is funny, you should have seen my reaction to it in front of a mirror. !!!! But pain relief wins everyday over conjured visions of impropriety~ AND, were worse to have come to worst, let's face it, kids....that staff in the ER may have laughed, but I am quite sure that would not have been the first time they had found "lacy undies" on men! At least I had a very good reason to wear the ugly stuff. ! I knew my comments would get a rise from the group, but this much I didn't expect!

I don't wear lace things either...too scratchy. Can't stand the labels in the back of clothing either !!!! Wool bugs me also, so does nylon in the summer. Cotton rules !
