Don't we just love stereotypes, eh?
Let's see. A liberal stereotype is one who is a well-educated, latte-sipping, arthouse bleeding-heart activist and card-carrying member of the ACLU.
A conservative stereotype is a religiously-indoctrinated, bitter beer-swilling, flag-waving suburbanite card-carrying member of the NRA.
For added humor, the words of a libertarian stereotype: "F@%& Off!" LOL.
No, we can't all just "get-along." Stereotype cons see that as a stereotype lib mantra. LOL

This is actually a very good question except for the Stereotypical part. Stereotypes are strawmen set up to discredit one's perceived opponents. A far better course would be to describe the average conservative and the average liberal.
The average conservative is your average American. The average liberal is a small but very vocal minority. Now, bear with me while I give you some food for thought.
The last truly liberal president was Jimmy Carter. Let's look at the election results when he got elected in Electoral Votes running against a moderate, Gerald Ford.
Carter-297 / Ford-240.
Now let's see what happened when the admittedly liberal Carter ran for reelection against an admittedly conservative Ronald Reagan again in Electoral Votes:
Carter-49 / Reagan-489. Reagan then ran as a proud conservative against another admitted liberal, Walter Mondale. Results in Electoral Votes:
Reagan-525 / Mondale-13.
The following president was not a conservative but a moderate George Bush. He ran against very liberal Michael Dukakis.
Bush-429 / Dukakis-111
Then Bill Clinton ran as a moderate against moderate Bush with Ross Perot in the mix. Resluts?
Clinton-370 / Bush-168
Clinton then ran against another moderate Bob Dole again with Perot running, too.
Clinton-379 / Dole-168
If you consider yourself a liberal, you are in the minority. Don't think so? When was the last time you heard of any presidential candidate call him/herself a liberal? Why is that?
Conservatives have no problem calling themselves conservatives and in fact have a problem with moderates who claim to be conservatives. Yet, I do not see anyone clammoring for the title of the most liberal candidate in any election. Ask yourself why that is.

LIberal - bleeding heart
Conservative - no heart
Yes - we just have to realize that most of us aren't stereotypes. I'm a "liberal," and the vast majority of my friends are "conservative." I admit, there are subjects we just do not discuss, but we're all good people.

We can't get along because libs whine using the same reasoning abilities that pre-schoolers employ and if we don't agree with them, their volume increases just like that of a two year old kicking back down to the floor.
Since employing parenting skills is out of the question, avoidance becomes key in sparing ourselves the noise.
