Only if it men would stop thinking about finding the next best thing the minute she had finished raising his children or putting him through school. The divorce rates aren't as high as is being reported in the first place and in the second divorce isn't assigned to one gender or the other. People don't take marriage seriously anymore, no matter what their preferred role in that marriage may be, and as a result jump into it too lightly and without making sure they are ready for the sickness and worse parts of it.

Do I think that women should go back to becoming financially subservient so that they can't leave bad marriages? I think that's really what you're asking and the answer is no. The divorce rate may be "ridiculous" but that's because there are a lot of bad marriages and the answer isn't to trap people so they can't move on and live better lives.

Do you think men should work three jobs in order to feed, clothe, keep a roof over the heads of their families so the women can go back to their traditional roles in order to help reduce the divorce rates?

I think what has increased the "ridiculous" divorce rates is women now have the right to move on if its not working, and its socially acceptable now. I think that if women were prevented from working and celebrating that independence, it would most likely increase the divorce rate. I am totally for women being independent, having their own money (not having to ask for it from husbands), and having their own fulfilling life goals outside the family. I personally have a college education, and did quit working to be a stay home wife/mom but don't think its "the right" thing for everyone.

When women were in the traditional roles divorce was illegal, so obveously nobody was getting a divorce. Couples today are too selfish. When hard times come they bail because there might be something bigger and better out there. Women might be more willing to return to traditional roles if men were willing to become traditional men. Women have to have something to support them when men leave.

now that women are in the work force it takes both incomes to provide a compfortable living arrangement for the family, kids and each other. if women went back to the home the poverty level would increase and the extra stress on couples would increase the divorce rates. however, if life would go back to men being able to make what it takes to support a family and women went back to the home, yes it would and also it shouldn't be as easy to get married or divorced. that's the main problem.

Actually I have thought about that myself, but honestly a pig is a pig, if a woman can't be faithful in the worplace she will just pass out bj's to everyone in the neighborhood if she stays home. There are some, (not many) good women out there you just have to be patient . Peace

Financial independance has very little to do with divorce you silly little boy! You never heard of spousal support or child support. It bankrupts men who have financially dependant wives.
