I'm Ukrainian by heritage. Anja would always be pronounced "An-Yah".

Its actually pronounced 'Un-ya' but spelt 'Anja'. This is my cousins name and she got teased at school by kids calling her Onion but I still really like it. A very pretty name.

It really doesn't matter, since it's your child you can pronounce it anyway you want.
