G'day,

This is the article from a newspaper abt the reason of Melbourne being chosen as the world's most livable city.

Tentofield, I have the same feeling towards Sydney as well... I guess that's the reason why I still live in Melbourne and you still in Sydney :)

As somebody who was born in New South Wales .. and grew up in New South Wales ... BUT live in Melbourne by choice .. I would have to say that Melbourne is a wonderfully warm and friendly city ....
I always found Sydney to be a Little stand-offish ..

Melbourne has GREAT HEART,

They obviously asked the wrong people. I have lived in Melbourne three times and have visited many times. I always enjoy it but Sydney is Australia's greatest city. Melbourne keeps on about its food as though it didn't exist in Sydney. Restaurants in Sydney are as good if not better than Melbourne's. There are more of them and there is a greater variety of cuisines at prices to suit everyone. The days when Melbourne outranked Sydney on food are long gone.

people are warm and friendly not like in sydney ( all snobs! lol), cost of living is fair and not too expensive, u can travel easily because we have trams, trains, buses and taxis ( trams are rare in australia, u can find more trams in melbourne), shopping for food, clothes and everything is easy and cheaper ( they are scattered all over the city), rent for a flat is also cheaper ( hey, u can even find a flat mate to cover expenses) and lastly, pubs are amazing here ( its like coming home! cheers!) to sum up everything i say..living in melbourne is less expensive than in sydney and other states in australia!

Good question. I lived there for a couple of years some time ago. It is a place that sort of grows on you. It is not picturesque like Sydney or has the vitality of Perth or the youth of Darwin. It just seems to have some depth and a nice pace. Trams are good, food wonderful and the pubs not bad. Surf is lousy, weather worse but I still liked the place

hahaha good public transportation - I just nearly spat my drink across the room. Yeah Melbourne has good public transportation if you like standing under someone's armpit on a train that goes nowhere near your house, requiring you to catch additional transport.

It's clean, safe, beautiful to look at, excellent public transportation services making it cheap and easy to get around, cultural diversity, friendliness, loads of activities partake in, great nightlife, varying climate (can be good or bad) and welcoming.
