I think that this is one of those questions where a bunch of people (mostly men but a few women) will say "No, of course not, times have changed," and another group of mostly women but a few men will say "Of course that's true, and it is very unfortunate." In higher level discussions -- college, corporate, and so on, each side will be able to produce valid studies and data supporting their side of the argument. This will not prove that either side is right, however -- all it will prove is that in some situations that statement is true and in other situations it isn't true. Personally I believe -- and some will say that this is because I'm a man -- that the statement is less true than it used to be, but still more true than it should be.

I believe this. I think that it is easier for men to succeed because they help each other a lot. I work in an office with mostly women but it is interesting because the few men that are there are viewed as heroes. I think that men get more support than women do.

i dunno if i believe that... although we're definitely treated differently, I don't think people look down on gals as much any more.
People know that gals have a lot of good points, maybe not in the same area as guys, (so of course if you're talking about a really hardcore guy job, then they would have to prove themselves, what else can be expected?)
I think the guys would also have to prove themselves in girls jobs too. and of course guys can NEVER do what gals do- grow and have babies!
Why do girls always seem to want to do guy things?? it's greater in my opinion to do girl things. (sorry guys, but you are special too)

There are still arena's we must be twice as determined and give twice as much energy to be considered worthy. And family cannot be your priority. But it seems to be getting a little better in general.

There is some truth to that question. I work at a labours job and yes women do feel they have to prove themselves constantly just to prove they deserve to be there.

Yes. Women are forever having to prove themselves. It makes no sense, but there it is.
