I don't mind the cold, the blizzards of Illinois can even be exciting. The one thing I don't like is the appearance of death all around. The trees have no leaves. There are only dead looking barren branches. Not happy looking at all. Just as Guy1957 right above me said, there is no color. No flowers, no greenery, it's just barren and there is no joy in nature. Beauty does not abound like it does in the spring, summer, or even the fall.
On the other hand, My health club has a large hot tub that sits right in front of a full wall of windows. There is nothing better that sitting in the warm swirling water and watching a wild winter blizzard outside. Those two extremes of nature and magical together.

I don't like the obvious things like the driving conditions and maybe wearing to many clothes. But I think there is a part of winter that is great! The warmth in your home, the aromas of good food, the holidays filled with all that is important to you, and maybe most of all the snuggling by the fire during a snow storm with the one you love..Very nice! I try and find good things about it cause its gonna come anyway and its gonna be long...So I find things to enjoy..

I moved south to get away from Ohio's brutal winters. I lived in the "snowbelt" & we always had "Lake Effect" snow that didn't know enough to quit. Each winter got worse than the one before. I hated having to go out into that dreadful weather but did so if it was necessary. I'm in the south now, & winters here are like Ohio's fall weather. I love it!!!

I'm fortunate that I get all 4 seasons distinctly. I love the winter but dislike ice on the roads. It's too dangerous.

I think it would depend what winter in which country... In Rome (my home town) the weather tends to be very humid, although not as cold as in Vienna, and it's a kind of humidity that enters your bones and makes you shivers for hours....

Not too much difference out here in San Francisco. Weather is always pretty much the same. It might rain a little more but I like rain so that's okay.
