I think all politicians should have had to serve in the military but NO our President should not have to go to war, that's not his job, if anyone should have to go over there is should be congress and senate after all their the ones that make the decisions, the only thing the president can do it submit or veto a bill and even if he veto's it can be over ridden by 2/3 vote. He is merely a figure head, dang where did you all take civics or government classes? I learned this stuff in grammar school. No offense but so many don't remember how our govt. is really ran.

The president is the Commander-in-Chief (which means he's responsible for all branches of the military) and he does his job from the Oval Office. He does this in addition to his other duties as president, which leaves precious little time for .... whatever you would cleverly suggest he do; drive a tank with the Army? Fly fighter jets for the Air Force? Spearhead invasions with the Marines? Man the sonar station of a nuclear sub? Get a clue, Lulu...
And don't forget -- the Democrats were all for invading Iraq in the first place and pushed quite hard to get us involved there (before they hiked their skirts and ran like the chickens they are once the going got tough).

There were lots of Presidents that actually fought in wars, just because Bush hid behind his daddy's apron strings doesn't mean that they all did.
But I think who ever runs for President, should have been in combat or at least served in the regular military, not the reserves. Then they actually know what it is like to be fired upon.
I agree with your point too.

I don't believe the President should go himself. Our country, just like any business does need a manager. HOWEVER.... I DO believe that if the President declares war, his own children should be signing up to be first in line. Just like he expects our children to be.

I agree with that and the should also have their children join the service and go to war first instead of sending them off to some private school.

You are damn right sister! That's why I think John Rambo would make a damn good president, but the only problem is that he is not a real person. He can win the entire war all by himself.

the president can't declare war, that power is only reserved for the legislative branch.
Not trying to be a smart ***, I agree with you.

the terrorists declared the war, dear. osama bin laden declared the war long before 9/11 and he wrote it out on a piece of paper. 9/11 was not the first time those buildings were attacked, they were attacked in 1993. and just so you know....the president of the us is probably the most targeted person by the terrorists and IS on the front lines every day.

I agree ! I also don't understand why he can't show up to even one soldiers funeral. Maybe knowing he's the cause of the death is too much for him to face.
