The best thing to do is say hi to them. Ask them how they're doing. Once you get past the akwardness of it, you'll be just fine. It is hard to meet new people, I'm the same way. Or if they're just coming off from weekend from work or whatever, ask them if they had a good weekend. Hope this helps!

Just ask what kind of things they like to see if you have any mutual interests. Example: Hey (officemate) how did your weekend go? It can be simple as that

From experience I have learned that forcing friendships never work if you give it some time you will find that like attitudes will sometimes attract like and unlike will repel. So be patient and just stay social.
