it really bothers me.

i'm not saying that they should have the same workers working 7 days a week, that's why there's part timers who can work only weekends or what have you. and it bothers me cause of their motto. they can work through all that but not on sundays.

In 1912, Congress passed the Mann Sunday Closing Act which closed Post Offices on Sundays, thus guaranteeing Postal Employees at least one day off every week. By the way, the Postal Service does have a department that works on Sunday. It is the department that delivers Express mail. Express mail is delivered 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

It may be a botheration to you but the postal employees are human beings and need rest just like you do. Sunday is considered since long as a weekly holiday and accepted globally except for the Arab Countries for whom it is Friday.

It only seems that way b/c their is no mail delivery (other than express) or clerks selling stamps but there are plenty of postal workers working on Sundays.
Been there and done that.

This country was founded on Christianity and Christians believe Sunday is a day of rest and worship.

the delivery people and the counter people have that day off the rest of them are working.........getting it ready and sorted to go on. I think you will find that they in fact work 24 hour shifts every day to ensure timely delivery.

Everyone needs a day off. Not having mail for one day of the week is no "biggie". The U.S. is a 'christian' country so most people have the sabbath off.
If that bothers you, terrorism must really freak you out

Because they are government employees. Shoot!! We're lucky they work at all!! Lots of government employees don't.

The government has to give its laborers at least one day off. This isn't a twenty-four hour drugstore.
