Hey Revolvers are nice I used to have a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag that was an awsome gun, one of my favorites for target shooting, you don;t need binoculars to see the hole you put in the target.

Smith and Wesson .357 Model 686. The reason I chose a revolver over an automatic is simple. The weapon can sit a long time without being used until one fateful day when you really need it. A stainless steel revolver such as this will still be in the same working order.
An automatic keeps its ammunition in a spring loaded magazine. Since a loaded magazine will keep the spring compressed a long time it is more likely to fail due to the fact that the spring will become weak or the mechanism may stick.
I do not foresee any probability that I would be engaging in a prolonged gun battle requiring more than six high powered pistol rounds.
I also use hollow points to prevent over penetration and sometimes automatics have difficulty feeding hollow points. At least they have in my experience.
Don't get me wrong. I love automatics, too. I just don't trust them unless they are used and cleaned and oiled regularly. If a sidearm is to remain unused for long periods, I prefer the reliability of the good old revolver.

Jacob W, there has been exhaustive testing of revolvers vs autoloaders, revolvers always fail first. The Model 1911
45 with round nose ammunition is as reliable as a stove, and it can be had in stainless versions. Reloads faster, easier to shoot accurately, no precise clearances or timing issues as with the revolver. Drop it in the mud, pick it up and shoot it, reliability and stopping power was among the army's more important criteria for making it their sidearm for years.

Several. 686 S&W is my favorite only because I carried it for so many years in law enforcement. I have a .50 cal Smith that is an arm ripper. I agree some what with the poster above as to the 686. My preference with a revolver over a simi auto is quality over quanity
