I saw an answer to a previous question that said that a study was done and the percentage had remained constant, but if people did not 'come out' before how can they assess accurately? I have a theory which no one can disprove. All our crops and animals are pumped with female hormones (oestrogen). That is why you have lambs producing tiplets and twins instead of singletons.; plants and crops fruiting in abundance. This gets into the food chain and water supplies. In addition the use of the 'pill' also gets back into the system. There is also strong evidence of this as fish in our rivers are commonly now showing signs of being bi-sexual. No wonder then that males are morphing into females. I am not homophobic, but do not shirk the issue by saying that society is more open and more people can come out without fear.
No, gays won't take over as they cannot procreate

Just to add that my question was not aggressive, not anti gay/lesbian.I have friends of both.neither was I being moralistic. Why is it on 'answers' that people always answer in a confrontational way, making sweeping assumptions which are not at all accurate?

Although I totally agree that we need to stop pumping our food and planet with hormones, I'd have to disagree here. There are not more gay people. There are just more openly gay people.

But just wait 5-10 years, and we'll be seeing transgenders who didn't even want to change sex (unless we do something NOW).

I do think people are freer to come out than before, but you are correct, if they couldn't come out how do we know how many there were?
I think the main thing though is just that there are MORE people. Aren't there something like 6.5 billion people on
earth?
There also may be something to your hormone theory. I don't know that this is correct but I read an article the other day that said kids (girls more noticeably) are starting puberty at 8-10 yrs. old. The scientists think that this is due to the additives and preservatives being put into all the fast food and prepackaged food.

The reason for this is a very simple but commendable one,our gay & lesbian elders have fought very hard for 'our rights & over the time people have felt more safe to come out.People had to live 2 totally different lifestyles for fear of retrabution from the straight society. As the years go on there will just be more & more of us as there will only be the uneducated left that oposes "homosexuality".It will become very apparent to those who opose this lifestyle as soon every one will have someone that they know who is gay or lesbian,it just comes down to knowledge & tolerence for we all are not created equal-how bloody boring would it be then.

I agree with the mariah's answer but I have more to add...

Many people today eat only organic. Some don't even eat meat. These people tend to come from families that do the same things. Some do it by choice, but most come from families that eat that way. There tend to be more gay people that eat that way than heterosexuals, by capita.

My dad eats organic (or atleast tries to) and I would too if I could afford it. I'm gay.

Explain lesbians, by your theory. I will check back for your explination.

Also, explain how their could be heterosexuals that come from families that eat foods with all those harmones. Why do homosexuals tend to come from the same families? I am one of three homosexuals in my family. (I have a lesbian aunt and a lesbian cousin.) I have met one person who is lesbian and all her sisters are bisexual.

Your theory is a good one and I applaud you for it but I do feel that it is incorrect. I'm sorry.

Correct or not... homosexuality is not a choice.

I have a theory too - and no one can disprove it. Pigs are actually sentient species come from another planet. They were the ones who started humanity, growing us in petri dish. They only like the fact that we eat them because it keeps us closer to them, so they can study us in further detail. You see, after a pig is cooked and eaten, they haven't actually died. That's when they enter their after life - in our bellies. From there, they can study our entire human biology in the greatest detail, collecting data sets from the entire human species. Also, when we eat the pigs, sometimes they like to make further tests - and sometimes they turn us gay. That's how we become gay! It's the pigs, damnit! They're out to get us! And I'm totally not homophobic or anything!!

/sarcasm off

If you think gay people would want to "take over," I'm sorry - you are homophobic. That means you feel as though society is an us vs. them situation, where gay people are pitted against straight people. That would be a horribly unfortunate world to live in as almost all of my friends are straight and I'm gay. I'd be sad, to say the least.

On a serious note, you really need to get out of your bubble and meet some gay people. We don't bite - and we're certainly not interested in taking over the world. Ya, we want equal rights, but no rights that you and hundreds of millions in America don't already enjoy.

some of these studys are done without people having to give there names or locations so someone who is not "out of the closet" can answer truthfully without fear that they are going to be "exposed" honestly I don't think that there is any more or less gay people around 2day then there were say 100 years ago...but I do believe that since socitey is a bit more "forgiving" now there is more people that are "coming out of the closet"

A friend of mine says that the universe is conspiring against overpopulation by creating every time more gay people ;)

well this world is becoming more and more ok with the homosexual and bisexual lifestyle. it's tha older generations and bible thumping Christians that are still against it which i find sad. Jesus never mentioned homosexual ways, his deciples did. how could tha new covenant include what was said after Jesus' mission was accomplished?
