For the past few months I have been having conflicting thoughts whether if I am a confident person or not. At times I feel confident, I would look in a mirror and I would feel good at the person staring back, but other times I feel as if my confidence certainly vanished.

Is it possible that a person can feel confident one day and not the other? Is confidence just a matter of thought that our brain plays tricks on us?

I am a 20 year old student in college, so I guess I am at an age where things can seem very confusing.

Confidence includes self knowledge and self acceptance. You know who you are, and you are proud of that knowledge. It takes a very long time and extensive soul searching to finally know who you. At 20 you are too young for that, because you are not a fully shaped individual yet. What makes you that are life experiences. That includes pain, disappointments, loss, rare sparks of happiness like love, friendships and success. You will get there eventually, I promise. Smile

In essence, confidence is feeling competent and being self-assured. Having high-self esteem. Of course it's possible to feel confident some days and not others, because incidents are bound to occur that may boost your confidence, and, likewise, things will happen that may degrade you.
