Both in my view. Is not the giver the one who gave the gift, making the gift a product of the source, making the gift reflect the giver and not being a "truth" on its own?
However, does not the gift define the quaility and thoughts of the giver since it is a product of the source?
I'd say spoken out, the giver is more of the truth, yet the gift also defines it somewhat

the giver give the happy truth...make your day bright.....if the giver give you the unhappy truth....this will only make your day moody.....that depends on what kind of person you want to be, so that you will have either happy thinking or unhappy thinking in life.

The gift of truth is only there for people ready to receive it and those that can give it are already kings and queens.
I'm not talking "god" here, either.
