Why do you want to mess up the spelling of a gorgeous name? I don't understand why people feel the need to butcher names by spelling them "creatively".

My middle name is Anthony. Im an english speaking South African. The only way I can think of it with different pronounciation is when my Afrikaans friends call me "Antonie" which is like Anthony in Dutch or Afrikaans.

Why would you need to spell it differently? If you don't like the way it's spelled just choose a different name.

Please, please, please do not do something to the name Anthony to make it original. The name is not original( -its traditional and that IS what makes it a good name)and alternate spellings created merely for the sake of originality are so common that they are trite. They make the parents look foolish for not knowing phonics and they make the child look foolish later. If you want something original, create something original.

IF you have an ethnic background that you wish to represent with your spelling, that is great, but don't fabricate something that isn't part of your heritage.

Anthonie, but it look hell of misspell, weird, and lame. I would stick with the normal spelling.

Don't mess with the spelling. There are variations on the name, though...

The only variation I've seen is Antony, but it is not pronounced the same. More like An-ta-ny.
