We were diverted off of I-5 at SR-18. Took Enchanted Parkway over I-5 and State Patrol had all of South Bound shut down at the truck scales, I-5 was empty. What the heck happened?

Not even close to Ballard. More like Tacoma.

There was a very bad accident which tied up traffic on Interstate 5 near Fife.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Fife were closed after a crossover crash that involved seven cars and injured six people Saturday morning.

State troopers said a teenager was northbound on I-5 in a Lincoln Continental when he swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle. The driver lost control, shot over the cable barrier and landed in the southbound lanes, where he triggered a seven-car pileup.

The crash injured six people, who were riding in the different cars.

Investigators said the most seriously injured victim is 14-year-old boy, who was riding in the vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic. He has been taken to Mary Bridge Hospital where troopers said he was in critical condition.

Troopers said they do not know whether the teen driver was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control. They have said, however, that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash.

Troopers detoured all southbound traffic off the interstate at Porter Way to State Route 18 for several hours on Saturday. The detour caused huge backups on I-5 in both directions, as well as on SR 18.

I think that there was a major wreck. I heard something on the WOLF today on the radio but didn't catch where it was. JM is the best answer on this one. I didn't have a chance to catch the news until an hour or so after I posted this.
