x² + 6x - 3 = 0
You can using quadratic formula or completing the square. You can't do the trinomial method or cross multiplication method because the solution cannot be determined.

Quadratic formula
a = 1 , b = 6 , c = -3

x = -b ± (√b² - 4ac) / 2a >>>Just plug the number into variable
x = -6 ± (√6² - 4(1)(-3)) / 2(1)
x = -6 ± √36 + 12 / 2
x = -6 ± √48 / 2

x = -6 + √48 / 2
x = 0.464 >>>3 decimal point

x = -6 - √48 / 2
x = -6.464 >>>3 decimal point

Thus x = 0.464 or x = -6.464

use the quadratic formula

ax² + bx + c

x = (-b ± √ (b² - 4ac)) / 2a

x = (-6 + √(6² + 12) / 2
and
x = (-6 - √(6² + 12) / 2

x = (-6 - 6.93) / 2
and
x = (-6 + 6.93) / 2

x = -6.465 , 0.465
