What makes a good rap//hip hop artist?

Record sales or skills.
To me it is based on skills, but many seem to always bring record sales when talking about MC's.

To be a great rapper, or hip-hop artist, one needs talent, experience in hard situations in life, a good voice to rap with, creativity, knows how to write good poetry, love for the fans, and record sales. All these qualities makes a successful artist. Minor qualities includes flow, and a somewhat altitude.

but you also have to feel the passion, like you know that they LOVE what theyre doin. even if they dont make that much money
