Occassionally in NYC. It is a tough leap from where you are to acting professionally. If you are willing to work hard for a long time, you might make it. You are going to need an agent and it may take a while to get one. To find out how. click on my name and read my profile and write to me at my aol address.

You undoubtedly know what theaters are in your area. Go to them (all of them) and see if they have posted casting calls. Leave a card - if they will take it.

Depending on your age, they may not be able to hire you. Also, there are union and non-union companies. You will want to start with the non-union ones first to see if they are interested. then, hopefully you will be "discovered" by an agent. Some agents accept new clients but be prepared to fork over a percentage of your pay. In the long run, if you make it big, it is worth it.

Good luck (I mean, Break a Leg!)

Try www.backstage.com and do a casting search highlighting your location and see what you get. I just did that search to see and not much comes up, but the Olney Theatre is casting their 2008 season http://www.olneytheatre.org/

Usually theatres post audition info on their site. I didn't see their's, but that doesn't mean I couldn't have missed it. Check it out yourself and call them to ask where they post their audition information.

Also, look in your local calendar section and see what other theatres are in your area and do the same thing I just did. Look up the theatre, check out their website and if you can't find audition info, call them and ask where they post it.

Another site you can check is www.actorsaccess.com. They may or may not have much for you, but you can look.

good luck

in the paper, or "Variety" if you can get it. closest place to you is NY, if you can get there. i suggest build up your "resume", then after you graduate, go to college to get an education for a "fall back" career. then go to NY and find an agent. good luck. it's a very hard field.
