and need a good attention grabbing introduction. The essay is comparing and contrasting a character in a story I read and myself. Does anyone know all the different kinds of attention grabbers? (like one is start with a startling statement) But I don't remember the other ones.

the first issue in writing is often "who is your audience" so when you decide whose attention you are trying to grab, teens ? Adults ? little kids ? criminals ??? then you can probably decide on a grabber
