i just posted this question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Als6biItbQjnxuGrPhcyVdXsy6IX?qid=20070825195802AAD57YX

Now my next question is, how can i get my dilation to speed up. I am sure thats why i was sent home, because little or no change in dilation, was 2 when i get there, was right around 2 when i left. Sex is OUT of the option, was to uncomfortable, having contractions every 2-3 mins. Ive been walking around my house..but doesnt seem to be making the contractions stronger, just staying the same. I am going to take a relaxing shower, hopefully that will help. Anything thing else i can do to get the ball rolling, considering i am in early labor? Thank you.

If your water hasn't broke get into a warm tub, or stand in the shower and let the water run over your back and your tummy. Things to help relax your body during contractions will help the baby drop and change your cervix. make sure that when you are having your contractions you aren't tensing up your bottom. Try to keep your hips and your butt relaxed as much as possible. When you tense things up down there it just holds the babies head away from your cervix instead of pushing it down against it. If your contractions don't get any further apart and get any stronger I'd go back.

Keep walking, try some stairs. Take a warm shower and keep your body as relaxed as possible. Sometimes nothing works and the baby comes when it is ready. Have a great delivery and best of luck to you and your family. Have fun with the little one, once it arrives.

Looking back at my delivery with my first one, I'd suggest just relaxing and try to get some rest, it may be your last chance to get any rest for a while. You will need your energy. Your body knows what to do and at what pace to do it. And....the next few stages really aren't that much fun, so no reason to get them to happen sooner. My opinion anyway. Sleep is important if you can squeeze some in.

Stimulate your nipples. I was 2 1/2 weeks overdue with my first preganancy 8 years ago and my midwife advised sex of course, walking and nipple stimulation. The hormones released when you stiumlate your nipples, it tricks your body into thinking your nursing. Take a look at the link below, I think it will help! Good luck!!

Go walk around your block a couple times... if that's not an option, do a set of stairs... even if it's your porch steps...

Otherwise, just let nature take it's course. I suspect that by tomorrow this time you'll be wondering why you wanted to hurry it along at all!
