How do I become an actress?

I am only 17 and I want to act in movies like lord of the ring but I live in a poor familey in kansas and have no job so if enyone has eny advise please let me know.

Hi brandy < It doesn't matter what your family circumstances are, remember Elvis came from a VERY poor family ! The best way to become an actress is to act as often as you can.So get out there and join as many local drama groups as you can .It doesn't cost anything and you will be welcome, even if there is no part in the next play you get to help out backstage until there is and you can learn heaps there too.
The next step is to try to get in to a Drama School or a drama college but do get into a local drama group first, as most actresses started out like this , you never know you may be SPOTTED by a talent scout. You cannot be an actress by staying home and wanting to be, you need to make it happen.

ocYes< I can help you, but you must understand that an actor does not choose the movies he or she works in until they are a big star. When you are starting out you take what you can get. It also takes a long time and a lot of hard work to be an actress. You can get started right where you are. If you are still in school take drama class and speech class and be in the school plays. I would say continue improving ur acting skill by taking acting classes (It doesn't hurt to get better) and get a subscription to Variety and look for open auditioned and keep on auditioning and u will eventually get noticed and get lucky Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh and get a lead starring role immediately or u might start of as a extra and eventually work ur way to the top like Jack Nicholson
