Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex (which Eisenhower warned us about) realized how profitable war could be. So all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired, and special interest groups were formed to promote and encourage more 'war'. Thus, the U.S.A. got entangled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm, all so corporations like McDonnell-Douglass, Lockheed-Martin, Sikorsky, United Technologies and Boeing could make BILLIONS off the backs of U.S. taxpayers.
Add to that the fact that two 'newcomers' had bellied up to the government's war trough, and both needed to share in the BILLIONS of runaway military spending: the Carlyle Group and Halliburton BOTH have made billions from this insane 'war', and BOTH have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House.
Add to THAT the fact that Halliburton is building fourteen new, permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq and will make BILLIONS more over the next twenty five years (or more). Add to THAT the fact that Halliburton is relocating it corporate headquarters to the Cayman Islands to avoid paying U.S. taxes on any of those BILLIONS of dollars - now that's the height of pomposity, arrogance and avarice! The very fact that the Bush administration has done nothing to stop such malfeasance only demonstrates the government's complicity in this wickedness.
Our troops are dying so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful. Congress, the American people, and our valiant troops have been conned into believing we're fighting to defend our nation against 'terrorists' from an unknown 'evil empire'; we're sacrificing lives to establish peace in the Middle East; or we're killing thousands of people to bring democracy to Iraq. These evil lies are among the most vile ever to be perpetrated on the American people and the world. -RKO- 08/25/07

Actually, no company is making billions from the war.
Almost all contracts in Iraq are cost plus 1%.
Now there are billion dollar contracts and multi billion dollar contracts.
But after expenses, pay roll, supplies, security and the rest of the overhead are paid for , no one is making billions.
Even KBR lost money the first 3 years they worked in Iraq.
Most people see a headline that company XXXX received a 3 billion dollar contract and assume that company just made 3 billion dollars, but if that company has 2.8 billion dollars in expenses, carrying out that contract, they only made 200 million, that would be just 6% profit.
