I really think that the media is a huge part of this problem. Cho mailed that tape to NBC knowing full well it would get blasted out there, and even though he died, he got what he wanted - these crazy people do these things for the negative attention and the media needs to quit giving it to them, and I think if they do quit these events will slow down.

I really believe people died because the media keeps blasting this stuff.

it's like a kid who misbehaves, usually if you ignore them they quit. If you give them negative attention they keep acting up. It's the same thing. These killers are just like spoiled little kids.

somebody please listen to me before more people die.

You may be right that they do it for the attention however that is only a part of the reason. Killers are mentally unbalanced, most have no conscience or remorse they do it for revenge, hatred, to seek pleasure out of the other persons fear, sexual gratification or to have control. It's all about control and dominance. Yes the media may contribute to it but a killer will kill no matter if he/she has the medias attention or not, it's just a small part of their game.On the other side of it, tell me if there was an escaped convict who was a serial killer would you want the media to cover the story? think about it if they didn't how many people would get killed because they weren't aware of the danger and went on about there daily activities being careless and unguarded. The media like most things has both good qualities and bad, but they are not responsible for a murder's actions only the murderer is responsible for his/her actions. It's like saying that a woman who was raped was partly at fault because she went out in public and the guy found her attractive but also because she was alone and left herself open to attack. Shifting responsibilities on others is actually helping the criminals to get reduced sentences, that is why there are so many people getting away with lesser sentences today. EX. I was scared of what the group might do to me so I hurt the other kid so they wouldn't hurt me, or I went temporarily insane or they provoked me into killing them. A person should be held accountable for their own actions that is true(media included) but their is a fine line between them being a factor and them being the guniea pig so that the responsibility is taken away from the individuals actions.

I do not understand your assumption that the media is to blame for a man going berserk and killing people.surely the root of the problem is the killer himself.
After a crime is committed there is nothing can be done to reverse it.

I see what you're trying to say, but I honestly believe people that are going to do a spree killing are going to do it regardless of media coverage. I think there is a lot more than media coverage that motivates someone to kill.
