So i'm about to be 21 and in my opinion time is going really fast because it seems like I just graduated from high school yesterday not 3 years ago. This time 3 years ago I was packing up for college, super excited for what was ahead of me but upset that my parents made me stay instate for school, and refused to support me if I transeferred. Now I'm 28 days shy of 21 and after taking a semester off from school to think about somethings and figure somethings out.still don't know what I want to do. I am registered for classes this semester and part of me is really ready to go back, the other part of me wants to join the air force because I wanted to do something different and travel to new places, and serve our country for four years and finish school but was afraid to disappoint my family. I have about one day to figure out what I want to do. I'm afraid to miss out on something by not joining or regret if I do. either way I want to get my degree

I have two years left because I took a semester off and changed my major while I was going, if it was only one it would be no question on what to do.

I suggest you go to school for now and avoid the other for The time being. That is a BIG decision. I chose paramedic because I enjoy the fast pace and being in the thick of things. Try some tests that try to determine aptitude in certain areas. You are young. You can enter the air force after college too.

Just a thought, but the military will help you pay for school....
Oh, and here's another--if you have a degree you might be able to get a commission, which'll put you higher up on the food chain. You can do both if you want to, so why not go for it? If it were me, I'd finish school and then go (this mess in Iraq's gotta end sometime, right?).
As for your family, well, it's your life, not theirs. And how can they complain when the military has such good benefits?

First, you have only one more year to complete to obtain your degree. Do it. Then you can figure out if you want to join the air force. You will be more valuable to the USAF (and, therefore, to yourself) with a degree than without it.
As for myself, I started out as a chemistry major. That lasted for three days until I found that science majors had to take 2 years of a language (the choices were Russian and Japanese) while engineering majors took drafting. I changed to chemical engineering. In my senior year, I needed three credits of technical electives. The only things still open were three one credit courses (programming, glass blowing, and I third that I cannot remember ) or three credits in Nuclear Physics IV (I had not taken terms I-III). I took the Nuclear Physics course, liked it, and got my masters in Nuclear Engineering. I have enjoyed my profession and have never looked back.

Don't think that your family will get disappointed if you join the airforce. Coz if that's what you really want, I'm sure you'll be successful in it. I think they will get more disappointed if you pursue something half-heartedly and then you fail at the end.
Listen to your heart. Don't let other people affect/dictate your decision. It is YOUR life afterall.

Finish your last year. It will be well worth it. Then do air force if you are still interested, because you never know if you are still going to be wanting to do that in another year.
Good Luck.

well
think about what you love to do, and then find a career that involves that. dont worry about disappointing your family, they will love and accept you no matter what career path you choose.
i love helping people, and i love medicine, so im going to be a surgeon. my parents dont think i can do it, and definitely dont think much of the cost, but they support me anyways
i would wait till the war is over to join the airforce, btw

You are almost finished with your degree. I would definitely finish it. Then you can contemplate what you want to do from that point. Try different lines of work and see what turns you on.
