In any good story, what are important things that should always or maybe happen at the end?

I disagree with Name. Good should not always win, and true love should not always be found. Otherwise a story just becomes way too predictable.

The only requirements that I have for a good story is that they resolve everything that they promise to resolve. Now this doesn't mean shove every answer to every possible question I could have down my throat, nor does it mean I need to see the end or completion of some journey. For example, a good story could end on a person's descision to go out and fight the head of evil (after they have already battled and/or loss things to lesser evils).

If the story doesn't deliver what it promised in the beginning, though, the ending is ruined.

It depends who you ask, but for me it's always got to be a happy ending that leads to a new beginning.

edit* About "predictability", the best stories always have a predictable ending but they may have twists and turns along the way like a rollercoaster.

In an action/adventure story where there is villains, good always triumphs over evil.

In a romance story, usually true love is found in the end.

Basically, all stories usually end in happiness.

well when you say 'good story' the main character is content with his/her life and usually they have marked their path or acheived their dreams in an unexpected or predictable way
