Industry standard is to replace with same type of engine or give you junk yard credit for it. They will not give your money back.

No a warranty is not very common among "local" yards. However most of your national yards like LKQ and MANNY'S will give you a warranty but not on specific parts just replacement if the unit does fail.It is also noteworthy to mention that these warranties do not usually cover labor cost's invloved in removing a failed engine and replacing it with another one.Anytime you buy used parts it is a gamble if the initial cost of the used part outway's the total cost of an OEM replacement then go for it but that is entirely up to you.I hope this helps.

That's a 1950s idea that is a waste of good money in the year 2007. No warranties--wastes time--hardly ever fits the way you want--get to a shop that can put in a JASPER or another reputable new motor with a 3 year warranty for ALL of the work done. Usually a nice clean 2 or 3 day job when you go this route.

If I got a bad engine, then they would just give me another one. I had them put in a 350 in a car I had, and then they dropped the transmission. They didn't say anything, and about 3 weeks later the car quit running. They said that I had a cracked bell housing. They would up replacing the bell housing and the transmssion and even put in new front and rear seals on the transmission for no charge.
good luck.

so places test the motors, some dont i have purchased 2 gm motors out of a junk yard. To be honest with you when I get them, I test them before I put them in, I change the oil, plugs, and upper intake, and water pump before I put it in. Yes it is extra, but the major things to go out, I paid the extra for it, but it is a peace of mind. The last engine I bought, came out of a roll over fatal, and I went through it just like I said, and it had 40000 miles on it, i put it in my blazer, and I have just over another 200000 on that engine so a total of 240000 now, and it runs like a top. But some places do a warranty and some places dont.

try to get your money, most likely the junk yard you got it from didn't test it before you bought it. Get a salvage engine from autozone. There salvage vendor is call everdrive. It comes all assembled and ready to be put in. They test all the engine parts before you get it.

It can go either way. Some places do it that way and others replace the engine and others will give you your money back.

It's sure nice if you can see the car it comes out of, that way you can see the actual mileage it has on it. If your existing engine just has high miles and needs overhauling, consider overhauling it. I've known people that bought a used engine that was in worse shape than the one they took out.
