It has been recommended by the state that Michael Vick is sentenced to a year to eighteen months in prison for _killing_ dogs in illegal dogfighting. However Mary Winkler has killed her husband and has received 210 days incarcerated:

By the way, he was a preacher, she shot him in the back with a shotgun, the only evidence of 'abuse' was that she had symptoms of PTSD which doesn't even necessarily means it was caused by abuse and she had just fallen for a nigerian money laundering scam and lost money on it. The next day her husband was to speak to the bank about it. See the link for more information.

I don't feel sorry for Mr. Vick. What he enjoyed doing is criminal, let's not forget that. He was also made an example of. How does a successful athlete like him ends up entertaining himself this way? Young children are watching and learning from his actions. If it is OK abusing animals these way, why not humans? He had to be stopped and taught a lesson.
In situation with this husband killer, her church, charity work and alleged history of abuse probably helped in reducing her sentence.

Was it you who posted a similar question regarding this same criminal case? If not, I'll say again what I said then: murder is not a justifiable crime. It's a travesty of justice (to say the very least) that she got away with such a menial sentence. If it were in self-defense MAYBE it could be justified, but her act was a cold-blooded killing. To me, this should have meant a life sentence. She may have been abused, but this is no excuse for murder. I survived a much more abusive relationship than the one she told of having. My ex-husband abused me in ways that I can't even begin to mention here...he also stalked me when I finally left him, and ended up in jail for assaulting me with a knife, trying to rape me, and interfering with the reporting of the incident to the police (just to name a few of the charges.) And still, I would not have expected to get off "scot free" for murder if I had killed him. Yes, this case is severely messed up, just like the O.J. Simpson case. It's not just women who sometimes get away with murder. Men do, too. In every case, it's wrong. If you must blame someone for the miscarriage of justice, don't blame women. Blame the legal system that allowed it to play out that way.

Not bad Mary Winkler
ppooooor Micheal Vick waaa waaa waaa he tortured dogs to death and fought them nasty habit... at least good ole mary didnt let her husband suffer or drown him out back in a 50 gallon drum or beat him over his head cause he couldnt fight properly. She really shoulda shot the Nigerian scammer that would have made one less shittin scammer in the world.

So? A dog is worth more to me than a preacher.
If I was the law, Micheal Vick would be sentenced to death.

In the state of Texas, "He needed killin'" is a valid defense against murder. Maybe Mary's husband "needed killin'".
