I think that you should really try to find a person that you can talk to. Psychologist aren't the only people trained to do therapy. Psychiatric social workers can give therapy, licensed social workers can give therapy and there are clinics where they will take people on a sliding scale fee which means that you're charged according to your salary. There are also programs to help people pay for the medical care that they can't afford to pay for. There are times when medication may be the only way that you'll get better. I'm not sure why people who would take medication for a chronic psychical illness baulk at taking medication for a psychiatric illness. I have had depression for over 40 years and If there were no medication for it I would probably not be around right now. The depression will not go away just because you want it to, even with good talk therapy there are times when it will only get better when you combine the two forms of therapy are the best. They have done studies to prove this, I hope that you find something to help you and don't assume that because you have diagnosed yourself that you really have depression there are other things that can mimic depression and they are caused by physical illness not brain or emotional .

Depression has been found to be a metabolic problem. you body is starved for nutrition and vital energy required to repair and rebuild itself. When was the last time you saw an energetic depressed person???

Eat a healthy diet where 70% of your calories comes from a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. (berries are the best for energy production. Whole grains and high quality protienes are essential

You need good antioxidents and vitamins, lots of water and good fresh air and exercise.

Stay away from all caffiene products which deplete the body of needed B vitamins and other nutrition. Avoid sugary snacks.

When your body has the tools it needs to repair and rebuild you will lift out of your depression.

Try to find a person who you can talk to about your problems. When you release what bothers you, you get half less depressed. Then try to find an actual cause of your problem and think how to deal with it -- either accept or get rid of it.

Also, visualize yourself fly very very high... somewhere in the Universe. When you're there, look down at the Earth. See how small it is? Then think how small people are. Then think how much smaller their problems are.

See, it's absolutely not a problem when you'd look at it like that.

Obviously you know why you are so depressed. First step is to work out this/these issues. Gets back to how they impacted on you - you need to realise your own self worth as a person, and that you have something good to offer the rest of us - believing in yourself. Rediscover who you are first, and the things that make you happy - this has a knock on effect and you'll be able to look at the things that made you so depressed - baby steps tho' one thing at a time. Good luck : )

Oh love, this is so hard. I was diagnosed with suicidal depression with alcoholism thrown in. I would not dare offer any advice regarding treatment. The only thing I can say is get help, starting with your Doctor.
You have my support.

I have depression.
I cry at random, i take a simple statement and turn it into a nasty insult.
I simply well, It's just who I am. I just try to hold the intakes of crying, and try to be around happy people.
Some emotional people be with other emotional people, it's horrible. I did, and all we talked about was how "horrible" our lives were. But then I got into happy people, who never talked about the bad in their lives, and were always happy.
