My fiance and I want to get married right away and have been wanting to for a while but had to wait until the insurance plan he had at his job kicked in. That would have been next month but now he is getting another job and going back to college next semester so we won't have that insurance. I can't marry him until we have the insurance thing figured out because I won't be covered under my parents' once we are wed and they won't let us till this is done. This is more urgent than ever that we get married now because my parents are driving us mad trying to control everything. I just gave birth to our baby girl on Tuesday so we need to find a good family plan. If you have any advice on what insurance carriers have good, hopefully inexpensive coverage please share. Oh and we are all in great health so existing health conditions won't be a factor in finding insurance. And the state is VA.

Medicaid won't properly cover my fiance and I even if we can get it. In the meantime we are going to get it for the baby.

My parents are worried about ME being covered, the baby is taken care of.
I need to know who will cover a family with a 17 yr old spouse in it and a baby that is under 8 weeks old.
Red H you can just go die.

Call the university your fiance is going to be attending and ask about their plan. If its a state school they most likely require students to have insurance and offer fairly affordable rates (at least for him). When I was in school it was about $500 per semester for the student, and then a spouse (you would have to married to get it) and a child would be another $1500 or so per semester, and my school's plan was a very good plan.
If he's not going to have an employer sponsored plan, then your left with individual plans. This is the type we have for our family because my husband is self-employed. The major players with the best reputations are Blue Cross and Blue Shield. http://www.bcbs.com/coverage/find/plan/ Understand that when it comes to individual coverage good and inexpensive don't usually exist in the same sentence. You'll just need to weigh your needs against the different plans to get a rate that you can afford. For example, with a new baby you'll want a plan that covers well baby checks since she'll have about 6 in the first year. If you're going to have more kids then you'll need a plan that covers maternity. You may choose to have a higher deductible if you can save up enough in a bank account to cover a high deductible (we have a $5000 individual $10000 family deductible, so that helps keep premiums down). Insurance plans can be very confusing so you may want to find a representative that you can meet with in person to go over things rather than just do everything online. It sounds like your parents are also good at planning for these things so use them as a resource in deciding which option is best for you.

I've been in your shoes. I have an 18, 17, 16, 2 and one on the way. My husband does contract work and the plans come and go. I started buying my non-toxic products for my home from this direct marketing company and then found out they had insurance as well. It's better than nothing. So, there is hope for yall. Just take care of that baby. I was a senior when I was first pregnant and on my step fathers insurance. Insurance really shouldn't stop you from getting married though, just keep working hard and praying and things will work out. Jennifer

Yep, as the other answerer said, you need to look in to medicaid.
Your fiance and yourself most likely aren't your parent's primary concern. Insure the baby, and worry about yourselves later. There is no such thing as inexpensive family coverage. It will cost you a few hundred a month at minimum.
**If this matter is so urgent, why is your fiance leaving his current job so close to the insurance start date and forcing the clock to begin anew some place else?
