Why are they so soft on scandals that may involve companies such as Haliburton?

Because the Bush administration and their corrupt cronies are thick in the mismanagement of reconstruction contracts and contractors.
The fact that those who report corruption are being demoted and prosecuted gives a pretty clear idea of the government sponsorship of the crooks.

Becouse big biz owns main stream media & big biz put the criminals in the white to do there bidding. Much the same reason that the news would rather entertain then do there job, FREEDOM of the press was included in the constituion to inform the poeple when there Gov. has become corrupt and yet, the Gov. tells them not to show America the flag drapped cofins full of dead men & women coming home from an illeagel war, And the press wimped out on that one too! Had the press done there job from the getgo... Bush would be LONG GONE and 100s of 1000s of lives would have spared. The American "press" has blood on there hands!

I really don't see much distinction between the two issues because all that I've seen and read show they are related. We are now hearing about Iraqi people without electricity, running water and sewage treatment... part of that squandered 'Oil for Food' money was supposed to repair and maintain those facilities. Is the media not making this connection? I honestly don't know because I don't watch mainstream media news.

If you can see it, "Iraq's Missing Billions" is a very good and eye-opening documentary. It follows Ali Fadhil, an Iraqi doctor, in his efforts to track down money that was supposed to be spent on reconstruction. "In just fourteen months, the CPA burned its way through nearly $20 billion.":

Didn’t you ever wonder why the Oil-for-food scandal just dropped out of the news?

Because the trail led to Cheney and Halliburton. Do you really think there is any big-time stealing going on anywhere in the world that those swine do not have a hand in?

So the answer to your question is, neither are being reported because FOX News is a political entity (the White House refers to FOX as White House-west) that cares only about its own agenda.
