ok well, heres the thing. I love my girlfriend to death and weve been dating since early 06 and I like to give her little gifts every now and then out of the blue. She mentioned somthing today about wanting a good book. She likes ones that deal with 17 year old girl stuff, ya know somthing she can relate too. Im also thinking of maybe a love story, but nothing graphic and extremely sex related. im not trying to push anything like that on her. I just want somthing that she'll like and will make her smile. soooo any suggestions?

thank you,
Logan

alrighty logan. by the way, congrats on picking up up on that hint on getting her those books. do you know how hard it is to find a guy who actually LISTENS CAREFULLY to what we say? she is very lucky to have you, and congrats on being so attentive.
but putting that all aside, since your (lucky) girlfriend was not too specific on what she REALLY wanted, I'll get some books from across the board.

ellen hopkins- rather scary stuff, but all the same they are very good books. i recommend her book called Burned, because though it deals with some tough issues like the Mormon faith and family abuse, it also deals with the concept of "forever love." its actually quite a touching novel. plus the book is written all in verse form, so it makes for a new kind of reading

gossip girl- never read the series myself, but i hear they are quite popular

megan mccafferty- LONG STORY (because these books are big!) the main character, Jessica Darling deals with recovered pot (and then some) addict Marcus Flutie from junoir year all the way beyond college. In Journal form, so it spans over many years.
I read the first three and they are VERY good, though occasionally Jessica does get under your skin for being so bloody neurotic. But still a very good read. The fourth one (I heard, I haven't read it yet) is rather sucky and fluffy. (in order: Sloppy Firsts, Second Helpings, Charmed Thirds, and Fourth Comings)

meg cabot- another neuotic journal written series, but the series I am talking about is called The Princess Diaries. Heard of them? Span from her life as a freshamn to her senoir year. the final book I believe is not coming out until next year, so get her started now and if you time it just right, you will not have to wait that long for the final book.

libba bray- rather a dark, almost modern victorian gothic novel meets science fiction (think about an alternative world, but nothing even close to star trak or star wars), but there is an interest between the heroine AND English Gemma and an Indian Kartik. Oh, and this is placed on the eve of the 20th century? Ooh!

Best of luck to you two- I hope you two go really far. :)
and if you want to be safe, take her to the bookstore and mention that you know what she is looking for, but that you are torn between two books and need help making the final desicion or something. Read the choices together and then make your choice. ;)

The Divergent Trilogy. Divergent is the only book I have EVER reread (and that says a lot about how much I like it!). I think it's twice as good as the Hunger Games trilogy! The first book is Divergent. The second book is Insurgent. The third book isn't out yet. Here is an overview of Divergent. In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

The perfect book is a series called Twilight by, Stephanie Meyer. Its main character is a girl who's 17 in the first, and then gets older in the next 2 books (18 to 19). Its a love story, but funny, and it has kissing and stuff, but not a lot (the boy friend has an ecxeptional conscience :) ). Its awesome, and i read it like 5 times...... im sure she'll get hooked on it!
p.s. the descriptions (summary's etc.) almost always do it very little justice. :)

I'd recommend the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. However, she may not look at you the same way once she's read about one of the main characters but I'm sure she'd love it. Then there are also these other books:
The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klaus
Companions of The Night by Vivian Vande Velde
A Stir of Bones by Nina Kiriki Hoffman
The Vampire Kisses Series by Ellen Shreiber
The Seer Series by Linda Joy Singleton
The Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan

Twilight by Stephine Meyer is always a good girl book. I know people ages 13 to 40 love this book. It is kinda a chick flick, sweet and very well written.

It may not make her smile, it is sex related because that is the issue uppermost on the minds of teens, and it will be a serious attempt to instill in her modesty if she hasn't it already or reinforce it if she is modest; the book is:

Wendy Shalit;"Girls gone mild"; Random House N.Y. NY, 2007

Good luck with your present, good health, peace and love!
