why do doctors write so sloppy?

i am not a doctor, i am a nurse.
we write so sloppy because we are writing all of the time in patients charts, do notes, and dictating patients charts.
after a few years of doing that my handwriting is almost illegible.

I'm a nurse and most of the time it's due to people trying to forge their signatures. It's hard to do.
But now we fax most of our Rx's to your local Pharmacy so they person never handles the Rx anymore.
There have been Rx pads stolen so many times and another reason they write all day long and I can tell ya we do too and my handwriting has gotten worse, I even have a callous on my left pinky finger from writing so much. We get to use the computer more and that helps but we still do alot of writing.
We get to type some of the Rx's also.

Probably he was spending too much time on Science related subjects instead of writing good papers for English.

Who really knows. I have the same problem also. But, it's just with males for me. Which I don't have to encounter a lot since I get mostly girl doctors XP

Well, their job is to make u feel beter, not to write perfectly! But good question! Mabye cuz they see hundreds of patients a week,and theyhave 2 b quick about writing prescriptions. As long as the doc can read it, and the pharmasist ca read it, u dont need 2 worry.

I think they dont have personality and they just need to imitate other doctors to show us that they are writing like doctors but they can write good ,I know this I know doctors here but the problem they want to be special and different than normal ppl

It comes from having to write constantly. After working in a doctor's office for so many years, which I no longer do, it is amazing what you learn to read. I was able to decipher alot of different doctor's & nurse's handwriting with no problem :-)

I have always pondered upon that, and never found out why. I'm tempted to ask. They all write the same, with their gel pens and loopy, undeciphered print. I like it.

very true....these people have really pathetic handwriting...i guess all these doctors are very good at operations but lag behind in good writing...

I think so cause my mom and dad are doctors i can never read their writting!
