I am looking at a 2003 Harley Davison super glide limited edition with only 3000 miles for $9500.00. I have been looking at the Honda VTX1300 for about the same price but new. Does anyone have advise on these bikes especially the Harley. I am a big guy and want a bike that has some power, especially at take off and when passing on the freeway.

The VTX 1300 can be a fast bike, after mods. I work with a guy who has one. It's a ticket machine.

I don't put much stock into the "limited edition" stuff. It's the same machine.
The TC88 is a good, strong, reliable engine. You'll have plenty of take-off and passing power if you keep your pipes restricted somewhat.

The Superglide is not what it once was, but everything changes over time.

Go with the Honda, Harleys are a status bike but they are a little guttless, I have an 03 Softail, not the fastest bike I have ever owned but definitely the coolest. Im also a big guy and dont want for power but the Honda will out pull the Harley at hiway speeds

Ok, Ok; this is the deal, that is a good year for the twin cams. The price sounds good also if the miles are lower than 20k. I own a 2000 Low Rider with I think 40k on it and I will not sell my bike for so little. Now when it comes to power it’s a personal preference thing, you’re going have decide what will be good for you. With modifications such as after market cams and headwork, you’ll defiantly be a contender out there on the road owning the Dyna.

the fact that you can get 9500 dollars for a bike thats 4 years old is all you need to know, a 4 year old Honda isnt going to get half that much. As for take off power the Harley has plenty as a v twin motor makes gobs of torque.

i do no longer understand approximately looking previous. Unkempt in line with probability. Like reported above, plenty i understand holiday to Sturgis and different rallies. plenty additionally stay at campgrounds as properly for the activities. no longer all people care approximately being splendor queens and making confident we Armor-All our leathers like different sorts of riders. Sturgis, as properly as plenty extra different rallies are extra Harley based and not a fashion coach. Plus, with age, your tastes refine. :) so a techniques as undesirable, lmao, i understand of too many USED Harleys that should pay for 2 or 3 different sorts of motorcycles. Plus, in the event that they have been undesirable, why do extra cities try have the unkempt Harley rallies over the sport motorcycle ones? $$ and tourism... era. There are further and extra previous and youthful experts figuring out to purchase Harleys each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. truthfully no longer all complicated middle bikers or perhaps "Rolex" riders. yet you do must be waiting to have the money for the Harley call.

Look to cycleworld.com for a review. Personally, I believe the last "real" Superglide came off the line in 94.
